The All India Institute of Medical Sciences is India’s premier institute for pursuing medicine. Started with the central objective of giving the world the finest doctors, A.I.I.M.S. has a host of facilities which are available for all its students. It houses the B.B. Dikshit Library for instance, which boasts of over 50000 books and subscriptions to over 460 journals. There is also a Central Animal Facility which has in its banks all creatures that are necessary for the purpose of research. It also has a Computer Facility, The Electron Facility, The National Poisons Information Centre and a dedicated Patents Cell.

About All India Institute of Medical Sciences
A.I.I.M.S. is the beginning of India’s medical dream. It was due to Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, Amrit Kaur and the Bhore Committee that the foundation stone was laid in 1952 and construction was finally completed in 1956. A.I.I.M.S. was started with the objective of meeting India’s growing need of good doctors. It was India’s first step towards having a medical centre which would take up the mantle of the true savior. It was established that aims would have both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and it would also be the institute offering avenues to researchers. The method of teaching has been modeled keeping in mind the fact that high standards of education have to be continuously met with. The teaching facilities are truly state-of-art and they are constantly being upgraded. The college has more than 600 publications published every year which are run by its faculty.

A.I.I.M.S. also has an efficient patient care facility which handles almost all ailments. It is equipped with the best facilities that science has to offer. It also has centers dedicated to trauma and de-addiction. There are also a few colleges which are affiliated to it. This has been done so that the standard of teaching and learning that has been set over the years can be maintained. These institutes are Basaveshwara Medical College and Hospital and A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences.
