Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham or also known as Amrita University was established in 2003. Accredited with the highest grade of ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Amrita University is one of the leading research universities in the country. There re around 12,000 students studying in the university. Amrita University has five campuses: the Amritapuri, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Kochi, and Mysore Campus. Schools in the university are distributed among the campuses.

Academic Program of Amrita University

Amrita University comprises 12 schools: School of Ayurveda, School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Biotechnology, School of Pharmacy, School of Education, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, School of Engineering, School of Business, Department of Social Work, and Department of Communication. Besides the academic teaching in the class, the university also conducts over 100 research projects, involving students, faculty members, and research students. Most researches are in the areas of Biotechnology, Engineering, Medicine, and Nanosciences.

For academic programs, there are over 100 programs for Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral Degrees.

1.      Bachelor degrees are available as follows: MBBS, BDS, B.Pharm, BAMS in Ayurveda, B.Tech in 8 disciplines, B.Sc in 7 disciplines, B.Ed, BBM, BCA, B Com, and BA in Mass Communication.

2.      Master degrees are offered for the following: MD, MS, DM, M.Ch, M Pharm, M.Tech in 12 disciplines, MBA, MCA, MSW, M.Com, MFA, M.Sc in 28 disciplines, and MA in Communication.

3.      Doctoral degrees are available in some areas of studies: Engineering and Physical Sciences, Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Business Management. Doctoral degrees are offered in three schools: Engineering, Medicine, and Biotechnology.
Dual degree program is available for MBA/MS, where students will get MBA from Amrita University and MS in Management of Information Technology Services from the State University of New York at Buffalo. There is also MBA/MS program for executives.

Bangalore Campus of Amrita University

Bangalore Campus comprises two schools: School of Business and School of Engineering. The dual degree program, MBA/MS, is offered at this campus. The School of Engineering offers B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD degrees, as well as training programs, in 11 departments: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Mathematics, English, and Physical Education.

Mysore Campus of Amrita University

Mysore Campus comprises two schools: School of Arts and Sciences and School of Education. The 5-acre campus with four-storey buildings offers Bachelor and Master programs as follows: B.Sc, M.Sc, BCA, MCA, BBM, and B.Ed. The School of Arts and Sciences offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The degrees offered for undergraduate programs areB.C.A, B.B.M and B.Com, while those for postgraduate programs are M.Sc and M.C.A. There are four departments at Arts and Sciences: Computer Science and Applications, Visual Media and Communications, Commerce and Management, and Linguistics and Value Education. While that, the School of Education offers Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

To support the studying process, Mysore Campus is equipped with facilities such as lecture halls, laboratories, computer labs, offices, automated library, halls, and auditorium.
