Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Kochi Campus)

The Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham or Amrita University at Kochi Campus consists of six schools as follows: Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Business, and Arts & Sciences. Kochi Campus, also known as healthcare campus, is attached to the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, which is a hospital in Kochi that serves medical care to everyone from any background.

Academic Program

Kochi Campus of Amrita University offers degrees from four schools that are relevant to healthcare as well as two other schools of Business and Arts & Sciences. The healthcare schools are Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dentistry, plus there is the Center for Nanosciences.

The offered degrees in Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees in healthcare areas of study are as follows:

1.      Bachelor degrees are available for BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery) School of Medicine B.Sc (Medical Radiologic Technology) School of Medicine B.Sc (Optometry), B.Sc (Nursing), GNM (Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery), and B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy).

2.      Master degrees are available as follows:

-          MD in Anesthesiology, General Medicine, OB & Gyn, Pediatrics, Pathology, and Radiodiagnosis.

-          MS in ENT, Ophthalmology, and General Surgery

-          M.Sc in 16 disciplines as follows: Medical Anatomy, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology, Medical Physiology, Dialysis Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Cardio Vascular Technology, Anesthesiology & Intensive Care Technology, Neuro Electro Physiology, Diabetes Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, Cardiac Perfusion Technology, Allied Health Sciences (Physician Assistant), Medical Informatics, Medical Statistics, and Molecular Biology.

-          DM in Neurology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, and Endocrinology.

-          M.Ch in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Gastrointestinal Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Urology.

-          Post Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC) in Anesthesia, Surgical Endocrinology, and Vascular Surgery.

-          PG Diploma in Diabetes Education, Medical Informatics, Clinical Research, Endoscopy Technology, and Pain & Palliative Medicine.

-          Other Master degrees offered at the campus are Master of Dental Surgery, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Pharmacy, Pharm.D, and Master of Technology in Nanomedical Sciences.

3.      Doctoral (PhD) degree is offered by the School of Medicine. There are also fellowship programs in Cardiology, Diabetology, Anesthesiology, Endocrinology, Head & Neck Surgery, Pediatric Cardiology, Neonanotology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Podiatric Surgery, and Surgical/Gynec Oncology.

The School of Arts and Sciences comprises of four departments: Department of Computer Science and Applications, Department of Visual Media and Communications, Department of Commerce and Management, and Department Linguistics and Value Education. The School of Business offers MBA program and the dual degree MBA/MS.
