The Anna University Tirunelveli was established by a Tamilnadu Government Act 28 of the year 2007 and has proposed to introduce new B. E. programs in the academic year of 2008-09 as an attempt to provide the youth with the required competitiveness and challenges and thus effectively and efficiently guiding them to explore their excellence.

The university also offers  ME courses in, Applied electronics, Computer science and engineering, Engineering design, Power electronics and drives, Structural engineering,

Facilities: All the above mentioned courses are also conducted as part time courses to facilitate working students
