Academic Units:
Some of the major academic units include Master of Computer Application, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Electronics and Instrumental Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering.
Some of the other departments incorporated in the institute include Department of Chemistry, Department of Humanities, Department of Mathematics and Department of Physics.
Infrastructure and facilities:
The institute consists of a central library which acts as a gateway to knowledge resources. The library incorporates a wide range of both print and electronic books, journals and other learning resources. Equipped with all modern facilities and resources, the institute’s library also consists of four departmental libraries. It has been estimated that the central library fulfill the demands and needs of around 2000 students and about 100 faculty. The library system is fully computerized and employs Libsys software package which supports all in-house operations of the library. The institute is soon to start a modern in-house electronic library which will digitize all old documents using Libsys Digital Version. Apart from this the institute provides hostel accommodation facilities to the students. The hostel provides shelter to around 250 students from various years. Some of the other facilities accessible to the students include canteen, TV room, Gym, and many more.

Asansol Engineering College was established in the year 1998 as a private institute located in Asansol which is an industrial city situated in West Bengal-Jharkhand border, about 200 Kms from the capital city of Kolkata. The institute is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education and is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology in Kolkata. The institute came into being with a vision and mission to provide high quality educational experiences to the students and to induce leadership qualities in students to prepare them for challenges in the profession and the society. The institute also aims to improve effectiveness and efficiency of working institutional management.
