BU family comprises of 41 post-graduate departments, one of the PG department was set up at Kolar (during 1994-95), 3 constituent college, 473 affiliated colleges (of which 88 have PG courses) and several other Centers and Directorates of higher learning and research. As of now, Bangalore University has 6 faculties, viz; Arts, Science, Commerce & Management, Education, Law and Engineering. Courses offered are as follows:

Under-Graduate Courses: BSc in Rehabilitation Science, Home Science, Speech & Hearing, BCom, BEd, Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), Bachelor of Science (BS) – Communication, Bachelor of Law (LLB), Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd), Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Bachelor of Library & Information Science (BLISc).

Post-Graduate Courses: MA in varied disciplines, MBA, MCA, MCom, MS, MFA, MLisc, MEd, MSc in varied disciplines, MSW and MIB.

Doctorate Courses: PhD in Library Science.

About BU:
Founded on July 10, 1964, the Bangalore University was introduced as a federal university. In its initial years, the so-called University campus centered round two premier institutes of learning – The central college and the University Of Vishvesarya College Of Engineering. Over the years, BU has expanded its educational service and today it is one of the Hot Spots of learning in the City of Bangalore. Not only is the institute categorized as a recognized University by the UGC, but it is also one of the paneled members of the AIU.

BU has high held commitments of improving the educational services in the region of Bangalore and Kolar. The main campus moved to the Jnana Bharathi Campus in 1973 where most of the University Administration takes place. The University has about 600 colleges affiliated to it.
