Academic Program

Calcutta Medical College comprises degree programs for:

1.      Undergraduates. There are currently 155 seats approved by MCI for undergraduate students, offering the degree MBBS. In addition, there is also new B.Sc. program in Nursing.

2.      Postgraduates. Postgraduate programs include three-year study to achieve the degrees MD, MS, and MCh. Approved seats, 81 in total up to now, for postgraduate students are in Forensic Medicine, Biochemistry, Preventive & Social Medicine, General Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Radio Therapy, Obstetrics & Gynecology, E.N.T, General Surgery, Opthalmology, and Orthopedics.

3.      Diploma. There are Diploma in Nursing (GNM) and Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology (DGO). Besides, other Diploma programs as approved by MCI are available in the following: Anesthesiology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Opthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Orthopedics, and TB & Chest Diseases. There are 81 approved seats in total. The list includes the study programs for Nursing: Diploma in Nursing (GNM), B.Sc. Nursing, and ANM Course which will be introduced shortly.

4.      Paramedical and Technician. There are Diplomas in Medical Lab Technology, Radio Diagnosis, Radio Therapy, E.N.T, Cardio Thoracic, Physical Medicine, Eco Cardiogram, and the Bridge Course for Eco Cardiogram.

The study programs are conducted in many departments: Anatomy, Anesthesiology, Physiology, Biochemistry, General Medicine, Surgery, Pathology, Pharmacology, Forensic and State Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Haematology Chest Medicine, Endocrinology, Community Medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Venereology, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Orthopaedics, Forensic Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Opthalmology, Radio Diagnosis, Radio Therapy & Nuclear Medicine, and Microbiology.

While the specialty services are available in many such as Anesthesiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Community Medicine, Dermatology, Forensic Medicine, Hematology & Transfusion Medicine, Medical Gastro Enterology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive  Surgery, and many others. The college also has a blood bank and maintains public private partnership with M/S ABCO Services and private partnership with Eco CT Scan Center.
