Callicut University, Kerala

Callicut University, founded in 1968, is located in Thenjipalam, Thenjipalam, Kerala, India. The university maintains off-campus centers and many affiliated colleges in five districts: Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram,  Palakkad, and Thrissur. There are 300 affiliated colleges in total, consisting of colleges in Training, Arts and Sciences, Paramedical, Medical, Engineering, Oriental Title, Music, Management Studies, Fine Arts, Nursing, Dental, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, Law, Ayurveda, Physical Education, and else. Callicut University has integrated facilities in the campus complex. There are guest house, botanical garden, student union, cafeteria, book shop, cyber spot, cultural events, observatory, seminar center, library, student space, and others.

Academic Program

Callicut University comprises 27 post graduate departments: Psychology, Physics, Philosophy, Mathematics, Malayalam, Life Sciences, Library and Information Sciences, Journalism and Mass Communication, History, Hindi, English, Economics, Education, Commerce and Management Studies, Chemistry, Botany, Biotechnology, Arabic, and Adult Continuing Education and Extension Services.

The university offers programs for Certification, Degree, Diploma, and Research Degrees. There are over 50 degree programs covered by the available academic departments:

1. M.Phil – Ph.D, which is available in Arabic, Botany, Chemistry, Economics, Education, English, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sanskrit, Zoology.
2. Master degree programs, which offer MA and MSc in various subjects, as well as M.Com, MCJ, MLISc, M.Ed, MCA, MTA (in Theater Arts and Tourism Administration), MSW, M.Ped, MPT, and MASLP.
3. Bachelor degree programs, which offer BA, B.Sc, and B.Tech. MD, M.Tech, Diploma, and Diploma Courses in many subjects. There are also others such as B.Com, BBA, BCA, BHM, BPE, BHTM, BSW, BMC, BTA, BPT, BASLP, and else. Postgraduate Diploma is available in Therapeutic Counseling, English Communication, Virtual communication & Creative Media, Natural Disaster Management, and Translation and Secretarial Practice (Arabic).

Research programs are conducted with main focus on the following areas: Arabic, Bio-technology, Botany, Chemistry, Education, Folklore Studies, History, Mathematics, Physics, Sanskrit, and Zoology. Online learning is available in the School of Distance Education, which offers 16 graduate courses, 13 postgraduate courses, and two diploma courses.
