The Central Agricultural University at Imphal offers undergraduate courses in agriculture which is for 4 years. Admissions

The students desiring admission in any of the agricultural university for degree programme may obtain the application form through their respective Embassies for programme under which they wish to seek admission. There are three streams through which foreign nationals could seek admission to various courses offered.

  1.  The foreign nationals are admitted to State Agricultural Universities or ICAR Institutes on the recommendations of the Government of India. Such candidates should approach Director, Department of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE), Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi-110 001 (India) through their Embassy or recommendation/nomination of their names for admission. Their admission will be subject to the production of Student’s Visa and eligibility requirement of the University. Within eight weeks are required for getting all clearances once the application reaches Director, Department of Agricultural Research & Education, Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi 110 001.
  2. Candidates sponsored by their countries are admitted to SAU’s/DU’s. They have to pay an Economic Fee of US $ 4000 per annum plus nominal other fees (US $ 200-400 per annum).  Sponsored candidates application could also be sent to Education consultants India Limited (EDCIL) for fast placement to various programmes.
  3. Self financing meritorious candidates desirous of joining SAU’s/DU’s may contact EDCIL and send application through them.

Facilities:
The various facilities that are provided in this university include separate hostels for men and women, a library which has more than 10000 books and more than 70 Indian journals on agriculture. Other than these, there are also a host of field excursions and exercises that are undertaken so that the students get hands on experience. Moreover, the mere fact that it is situated in the picturesque locales of India’s North Eastern Region makes it a memorable experience.

About Central Agricultural University :
India is primarily an agricultural country. In fact a major chunk of the Gross Domestic Product in the Indian Economy is contributed by agriculture. Therefore, it is necessary than that agriculture must be given a thought and research and education becomes necessary to provide the impetus for growth. With this intention in mind, the Government of India set up this university in the year 1993. This university is directly under the governance of the central agriculture department and enjoys grants from it. The ministry is constantly trying to upgrade this university and add more colleges to it so that more and more people can learn about agriculture. This university provides a host of courses which are relative to the field of agriculture. Its aim is to use the aid of science for furthering the cause of agriculture. The university the best teaching methods that are available so that the students can use all the information when they choose a career in agriculture.

The students who acquire admission to this university are considered to be the best because they first have to clear the Joint Entrance Test which is conducted by the concerned State Departments. Moreover the fee structure is cut out keeping in mind that all can afford to study in this university.
