Educational Programs:
The mainstay of the University is the MA Courses and Programs offered in Economics that is acknowledged to be the best one in the country to be offered by any other institute. The PhD Program also continues admitting limited students, and hence a little output. Till date, GIPE has awarded more than 165 students with doctoral degrees in different branches of economics.
Facilities – The institute covers a land area of 5.25 acres. Being a residential campus, GIPE comprises of faculty and staff houses, guest houses, and the student dormitories. It is he “Dhananjaya Rao Gadgil Library” that holds the attention that has one of the largest collections of social science documents in India. The total collection exceeds 2.5 lakhs of books and 470 national and international journals. It has a large number of publications on Economics and all allied social science subjects and successfully caters to the needs of scholars, academicians, policy makers and other users working in social science subjects in India and abroad.

About GIPE:
Established in 1930, GIPE is one of the premier institutions as far as teaching and research works related to Economics are concerned. Initially it started off as a research institute, but then over time, the University started delivering M.A. and Ph.D degrees that were recognized by the University of Bombay. It was only in 1962 when the UGC recognized the Institute as a Centre of Advanced Study in Agricultural Economics. The scope was broadened two years later when the UGC declared GIPE as a Centre of Advanced Study in Economics. At present, GIPE is also an active member of the AIU.
