Established in 1969, to mark the 500th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the preacher of Sikhism, this university has had a glorious past spanning more than 50 years. It is a residential cum affiliating university with 5 campuses affiliated to it. According to the University’s act, 1969, the University focuses attention on providing quality education to everyone, be it any one and from any strata of the society. It also has special fee waivers and additional facilities for weaker sections of society. The University focuses academic attention on courses pertaining to scholarly linguistics and art and humanities, besides giving special attention to course involving technical assistance to environmental protection and related concepts.
