Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU), more commonly known as the North Gujarat University, is a public university in the state of Gujrat, India. The territorial jurisdiction of the University encompasses the four districts of Gujarat namely, Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha. With a view to catering to the cultural and educational needs of the area, HNGU was established in 1986 as a UGC recognized institution by the Ordinance No. 5 of 1986, and later on, it was bestowed the status of North Gujarat University under Act No.22 of 1986 by the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat. Since then, HNGU has been functioning and expanding steadily.
