Academic Program

IIT Ropar comprises study programs in the filed of engineering. Academic programs at the university are offered in three departments:

1. Engineering, with focuses on Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The courses cover concentrations such as Manufacturing Processes, Surface Engineering, Thermo-fluid Engineering, Mechanical Design and Analysis, and others.
2. Sciences, with focuses on Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. Overall, the offerings cover wide range of subjects such as Organometallics, Supramolecular Chemistry, Nanosciences, Green Chemistry, Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis, Material Chemistry, Materials and Ion Beam Physics, Quantum Optics and Quantum Control, and Topology.
3. Humanities and Social Sciences, with main focus on Philosophy. The department covers Political Philosophy and German Idealism.

There are programs for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Bachelor of Technology is available in three concentrations: Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Students aiming to take PhD degree should have B.Tech, BE, MSc, MA, M.Tech, ME, and other equivalent degree background with qualified GATE score. Sponsored candidates from qualified institutions may have different set of requirement to apply.
