Indian In­sti­tute of Ma­nage­ment Ahmedabad (IIMA)

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, is an institute specialized in management. It is one of the toughest universities in the world to apply for. With accreditation from European Quality Improvement System and facts from the academic process, IIMA is consistently ranked as the top business school in India. There are 600 applicants for every admission seat opened. The buildings in the campus complex are quite old and exotic with many arches and square brick structures, which were perhaps influenced by its establishment in 1961.

Academic Program

Academic programs at IIMA are as follows:

1. MBA level programs. This level comprises the post-graduate programs for Management, post-graduate programs for Agri-Business Management, one-year post graduate program in Public Management and Policy, and one-year post graduate program in Management for Executives
2. Doctoral programs. This is also known as the Fellow Program in Management (FPM). Overall, the programs offer specialization in ten areas as follows: Agriculture, Business Policy, Economics, Finance and Accounting, Information Systems, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, Personnel and Industrial Relations, Production and Quantitative Methods, and Public Systems. The program usually takes four to fiver years to complete.
3. Faculty development program. This is a program designed for management educators so that they can update and refresh their managerial education with the new phenomena in the industry. Teachers, researchers, and industrial organizations are among those who find the most urgent needs to keep in line with new development in the world of management.
4. Executive education or the Management Development Program. The program consists of all the programs offered in the MBA level and doctoral programs, plus one faculty development program for teachers from anywhere. Executive education program is specially designed for practicing managers or professionals.
