Courses offered by the University are as follows:

Post-Graduate Course: M.Sc. in Economics – A two-year program where theoretical knowledge is imparted to students coupled with a thorough and hands-on training in the field of Economics. Special emphasis is laid on analytical and problem solving skills. The first year course includes: Microeconomics-I and II, Macroeconomics-I and II, Statistics and Econometrics-I and II, Mathematics for Economics and Development Economics. And the second year program comprises of Indian Economy, Energy and Environment-I and Public Economics.

Doctorate Course: M.Phil and PhD in Development Studies is inclusive of execution of course work and thesis submission.

Facilities – Covering a land of 14 acres on a hillside in Goregaon (E), IGIDR offers the following facilities to its inmates: Office buildings for research and administrative staff, Seminar rooms, 500-seat Auditorium, Library, Computer centre, Cafeteria, Guest house for visiting scholars, Tennis court, Swimming pool, Table tennis, Badminton courts and a Gymnasium.

About IGIDR, Mumbai:
Established in the year 1987, an autonomous body, IGIDR is an institute that is entirely dedicated to advanced scientific research related to the developmental issues facing India. Founded by an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, the University is recognized by the Reserve bank of India. Initially IGIDR started off as an exclusive research institution, but once on the roll, it took some fast strides and very quickly transformed itself into a full-fledged teaching cum research center. Not only is the institute recognized by the UGC, but it is also an active member of the AIU.

The University campus was inaugurated by the Late Prime Minister, Shri Rajiv Gandhi on December 28, 1987, and PhD programs in Developmental Studies were introduced when only in 1990.
