Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University - Kakinada (JNTU Kakinada) was first established in 1946 as The College of Engineering, Vizagpatnam. In 1972, it became a constituent of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. It was not until 2003 that it started to be an autonomous university. There are two constituent colleges: JNTU Kakinada University College of Engineering – Kakinada and JNTU Kakinada University College of Engineering – Vizianagaram.

Academic Program

There are engineering, basic sciences, and education departments in JNTU Kakinada. Engineering departments are categorized into five: Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Basic sciences departments are categorized into three: Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, and the Department of Social Sciences. And there is one Department of Physical Education.

The degrees offered at JNTU Kakinada are as follows:

1. B.Tech. There is B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, and in Computer Science and Engineering. The admission procedure to B.Tech programs is based on the Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET).
2. M.Tech. There is M.Tech degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, and Nuclear Engineering. The admission procedure is based on either GATE or entrance test held by the university.
3. Postgraduate in MCA and PhD programs.

Besides the available academic programs, there are also supporting infrastructure and facilities such as library with wide range of collection, sport facilities, workshops, extra curricular programs, and so on. The library has books, papers, journals, and many others for the relevant fields of study. Sport activities range from gymnasium, tennis ball, volleyball, basketball, football, table tennis, hockey, kho-kho, and many others.
