Karnataka State Open University, Mysore

Karnataka State Open University (or also known as KSOU) was founded in 1996. It is a public university with over 100,000 students. Located in Mysore, Karnataka, India, Karnataka State Open University was first established as a wing of University of Mysore. Now it is affiliated with ACU (Association of Commonwealth Universities), AIU (Association of Indian Universities), AAOU (Asian Association of Open Universities), CoL (Commonwealth of Learning), and UGC (University Grants Commission).

Academic Program

The academic programs at Karnataka State Open University are as follows:

1. Degree Programs. There are BA, B.Com, B.Ed (in both General and Special Education), and B.L.I.Sc for undergraduate students. While that, there are M.B.A, M.L.I.Sc, M.Ed, and M.A degrees offered or postgraduate studies. MA degrees are available in Kannada, English, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Public Administration, Psychology, and also in Mass Communication & Journalism.
2. Diploma Programs. There are 1 year P.G. Diploma programs in English (PGDE), Marketing Management (PGDMM), Human Resources Management (PGDHRM), Business Administration (PGDBA), Financial Management (PGDFM), Mass communication & Journalism (PGDMCJ), and in Nutrition and Dietetics (PGDND). There are also Post PUC Diploma in Kannada (DIK), and Diploma programs in Journalism (DIJ), Functional English (DFE), Statistical Process Control & Operations Research (DSPCOR), Information Technology (DIT), Disability Management (DDM), and in Life Skills Education (DLSE).
3. Certificate Programs. There are Certificate Courses in Kannada (CCK), Office Organization and Management (CCOOM), Environmental Management (CCEM), Environmental Technology (CCET), Solid Waste Management (CCSWM), Panchayat Raj (CCPR), Food Preservation (CCFP), Home Care and Children with Special needs (CCHCCSN), Health Benefits of Traditional Foods (CCHBTF),  Nutrition and Food (CCNF), Processing and Value Addition to Fruits and Vegetables (CCPVFV), Products and By-products from Other Food Grains (CCPBOFG), Hygiene and Sanitation in Food Chain (CCHSFC), and in Entrepreneurship Development (CCED).
4. IGNOU Adopted Programs. For adopted programs, there are P.G. Diploma in Higher Education (PGDHE), Diploma in Rural Development (DRD), Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education (DNHE), Diploma in Management (DIM), and Certificate Course in Teaching of English (CCTE).
5. Programs Offered in Collaboration with Partner Institutions. Over 20 institutions collaborate with KSOU in holding academic programs. Among them are University of Agricultural Sciences (GKVK Campus, Bangalore), Aishwarya Educational and Charitable Trust (R), Dayananda Sagar Institutions, The Adventures – A Wilderness School, Indian Institute of Law, Communication Clinic, UBS Business School, Minerva Educational Trust, and so on. Among the study programs offered collaboratively are such as Executive M.B.A, Bachelor of Business Administration in Aviation (BBAA), Master of Business Administration in Aviation (MBAA), Diploma in Theatre Arts, MBA BPO, MBA Insurance, MBA International Business, and many others including Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Pediatric Critical Care Nursing, Neonatal Nursing, Creative Teaching, B.P.O, Insurance & Actuarials, Retail Management, Audio-Video Production, Clinical Data Management, and others.
