Macquarie University, founded in 1964, is a public research university located in Sydney, Australia. The university is best known for the business and finance subjects. Affiliations are coordinated with The Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT), The Macquarie Christian Studies Institute, The Centre for Macquarie English (CME), and Access Macquarie Limited.Â
Academic Program
Macquarie University comprises four faculties:
- Faculty of Business and Economics, with six departments and one center: Â Applied Finance Centre, Department of Accounting and Finance, Department of Actuarial Studies, Department of Business, Department of Business Law, Department of Economics, and Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
- Faculty of Arts, with 11 departments and one center: Department of Ancient History, Department of Anthropology, Department of English, Department of Indigenous Studies, Department of International Studies, Department of Media, Music and Cultural Studies, Department of Modern History and Politics, Department of Philosophy, Department of Sociology, the Macquarie Law School, and Centre for Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism.
- Faculty of Science, with ten departments: Department of Biological Sciences, Department of Brain Behavior and Evolution, Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences, Department of Chiropractic, Department of Computing, Department of Environment and Geography, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics and Engineering, and Department of Statistics.
- Faculty of Human Sciences, with six departments and institutes: Department of Education, Department of Linguistics, Department of Psychology, Institute of Early Childhood, Institute of Human Cognition and Brain Science, and the Australian School of Advanced Medicine.
Programs are available for undergraduates, postgraduates, and higher degree research. The research degrees are for Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Philosophy, but there is also Pathway Programs designed for  Bachelor Degree only, Bachelor Degree with demonstrated research equivalence, Bachelor Degree with Honors, Masters by Coursework with no research component, and Masters by Coursework with a research component to open more studying opportunities for students.
Others
Macquarie University provides facilities such like library, sport center, museums, art galleries, a sculpture park, aquatic center, observatory, research parks, private hospital, and residential colleges. There are three residential colleges: Dunmore Lang College, Robert Menzies College, and Macquarie University Village. Achieving great reputation in research, the Concentrations of Research Excellence (CORE) in the university include the areas of Animal Behavior, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Earth and Planetary Evolution, Cognitive Science, Lasers and Photonics, Social, Cultural and Political Change, Quantum Information Science and Security, Ancient Cultures, Climate Risk/ Ecology and Evolution, Wireless Communications, Emotional Health, Social Inclusion, Financial Risk, Legal Governance, etc.
