Educational Programs:

The National Institute of Technology Durgapur is structured into a number of departments, covering almost all disciplines of science, technology, engineering and management. The institute provides educational courses at the under graduate and post graduate levels. Doctoral programs are also encouraged in various disciplines.

Under Graduate courses: B.Tech in Biotechnology, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, IT, Mechanical and Materials Engineering.

Post Graduate Courses: M.Tech in Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, IT, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics Engineering, MBA and MCA.

PhD Courses: Under the extensive guidance and supervision of the faculty members, NIT students are offered PhD programs in different academic departments.

Facilities – National Institute of Technology, Durgapur is a residential Institute and has nine hostels within its campus for both male and female students. There’s a college canteen for the students and the staff, a modern guest house, shopping complex, schools, banks and post offices, the University library and also a health care unit or the student and staff. NIT is encompassed with a campus-wide LAN along with high-speed internet connection.

The Institute was established in the year 1960, under an Act of Indian Parliament. As of now, NIT Durgarpur has been elevated to the level a center of excellence, like that of IITs. Formerly known as the Regional Engineering College, Durgapur, the institute was accorded the status of Deemed University and was renamed as NIT Durgapur in 2002.
