About NBU:
It was in the year 1962 that the University of North Bengal was established under the Legislative Act West Bengal. Initially, the University was assigned to provide and promote teaching, training and research in various branches of advanced learning, and dissemination of knowledge to fulfill growing socio-economic and technical manpower needs in the six North Bengal districts and the neighboring state of Sikkim. Not only is the NBU an UGC recognized institute, it is also one of the paneled members of the Associations of Indian Universities.

As per my knowledge I think they will not allow you to do MA in English if you are a general BA student. They have zillions of students waiting to apply from the BA honors course. Many of them do not know to speak a single sentence in English correctly, but the system sucks so much that general students are shown a closed door even if they are capable like you. Sorry for you man. But this is the politics of North Bengal University, and at large West Bengal state. If you had done BA honors from the plains you would have got into it easily. We need an autonomous University in Darjeeling to build the man power in the hills.
