Educational Programs:

In the initial years o its establishment, SVNIT was committed to run Bachelor Degree Programs related to Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Now the institute has changed to National Institute of Technology and in offers only Post Graduate and research courses as part of its educational curriculum.

Post Graduate Courses: M.Tech in applied mechanics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering and production engineering.

PhD Courses: PhD in applied mechanics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering and production engineering.

Facilities – SVNIT has its own campus spread over a surface area of 100 hectares on the Surat-Dumas Highway. Buildings for the academic sector are under construction. Besides, the University offers the following facilities to all its students: hostel blocks, accommodating approximately 1000 students. There are also staff quarters, college canteen, a Departmental Store, a Dispensary, a Guest House, a Post Office, a branch of the State Bank of India and play ground for some of the major games, viz. Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Cricket.

About SVNIT:
One among the 17 other Regional Engineering colleges, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat (SVNIT) was established round the year 1961. The University is named after India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Although it was established as one of the Regional Engineering colleges, the Institute was later bestowed the status of a National Institute of Technology as per the NIT Act. SVNIT came into existence as the result of joint venture between the Government of India and the State Government of Gujarat.

SVNIT has a total intake capacity o 426 students, plus, 20 additional seats reserved for foreign students under the Central Government scheme. The University has Post Graduate Centers devoted to Civil Engineering, Applied Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering Departments.
