About VNSGU:
Formerly known as the South Gujarat College, SGU was established in May, 1967 in the city of Surat. The University renaming happened during the year 2004, and now it is known as the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU). It has been named as a mark of honor to the famous scholar and eminent poet of Gujarat, Narmad. One of the most recognized and sought after departments in the university is the Masters of computer Application – Department, a brand new building with huge advanced computer lab. VNSGU occupies the 5th place in terms of academic excellence in the MCA department. The University also offers postgraduate courses in various disciplines. With effect from its establishment, VNSGU has been enlisted as one of the recognized universities under the UGC act.

VNSGU is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and has a number of affiliated and constituent colleges under it. The university also has non-traditional postgraduate departments such as public administration, rural studies, comparative literature and aquatic-biology.
