Educational programs offered:
The arts department offers courses like Ancient History, Anthropology, Arabic and Persian, Music & Performing Arts, Sanskrit and Urdu. The faculty of commerce offers courses in Economics and Commerce. Courses in Bio-chemistry, Mathematics and Photography are offered by the Science department. The law department offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in law.

Facilities:
The university has a central library which can accommodate more than 500 readers at one point of time. The library has special cubicles available for people with the intention of doing serious work. It also has 12 hostels for students in addition to the college hostels and 5 trust hostels. There is present an Athletic Association which hosts many sporting events. A Cultural Council is also in existence, which holds many cultural events. The students union at the university is also very active and takes care of the various demands of the students. It also offers scholarship programs and has an active employment bureau.

The fourth biggest university in India, this place has witnessed India’s biggest educational revolutions. More than a century old, University of Allahabad still stands strong and is considered to be the most enriched seat of learning. In fact, many universities like Banaras Hindu University, Nagpur and Kanpur universities have stemmed out of it. With its inception in 1887, this university has constantly been serving the cause of education. Moreover, with the advent of independence a fresh lease of life was granted to the place. This university has had its share of difficulties too. It fought aggressively to attain the status of a central university and finally in 2005 it achieved its goal. This landmark has added a new chapter to University of Allahabad’s glory. Moreover, this place has always been working for the empowerment of women. It has strived to make hostels for women and continuously urges everyone to understand the importance of women’s education.
