University of Copenhagen
University of Copenhagen, founded in 1479, is located in Copenhagen, Denmark, with over 37,000 students. It is the oldest and largest university in the country. There are four campuses: North Campus, City campus, South Campus, and Frederiksberg Campus, all are located in the same area. The university is one of the few who has larger percentage of female students. Besides academic reputation, the university is also known for the research activities.
Academic Program
Programs are available for undergraduate, postgraduate, research, and continuing education programs.
University of Copenhagen comprises eight faculties with the departments as followed:
- Faculty of Health Sciences, which has seven pre-clinical departments, five clinical departments, and seven research centers. The pre-clinical departments are Biomedical Sciences, Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Neuroscience and Pharmacology, Odontology, Public Health, Forensic Medicine, and International Health, Immunology and Microbiology. While the clinical departments are Orthopedics and Internal Medicine, Surgery and Internal Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry and Sensory Sciences, Diagnostic Sciences, and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics.
- Faculty of Humanities, which has six departments and institutes: Arts and Cultural Studies, Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, Scandinavian Research, English, Germanic and Romance Studies, Scandinavian Studies and Linguistics, and Media, Cognition and Communication. The institutes are SAXO Institute and Centre for Language Technology. Besides, there are also nine research centers.
- Faculty of Law, which has six research centers in the field of Enterprise Liability, European Constitutionalization, Pension Law, Studies in Legal Culture, Company law and Financial Market Law, and Legal Studies in Welfare and European Market Integration.
- Faculty of Life Sciences, which has 11 departments and institutes: Basic Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Food Science, Basic Sciences and Environment, Human Nutrition, Agriculture and Ecology, Small Animal Clinical Sciences, Plant Biology and Biotechnology, Large Animal Sciences, Disease Biology, Forest & Landscape, and Food and Resource Economics. There are also fifteen research centers to support the faculty.
- Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which has four departments: Pharmaceutics and Analytical Chemistry, Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, Medicinal Chemistry, and Drug Research Academy.
- Faculty of Sciences, which has nine departments and institutes: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Exercise and Sport Sciences, Geography and Geology, Science Education, Mathematical Sciences, Niels Bohr Institute, and Natural History Museum of Denmark. There are also over 20 research centers.
- Faculty of Social Sciences, which has five departments and three research centers. The departments are of Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology.
- Faculty of Theology, which has three departments and six research centers. The departments are of Biblical Exegesis, Church History, and Systematic Theology.
