About WBU of Animal & Fishery Sciences:
Established on January 2, 1995 under the West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences Act-VI, 1995, the West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences was set up with high-held commitments to emphasize upon Education, Research and Extension in the fields of Veterinary & Animal Science, Dairy Technology and Fishery sciences, and also to serve the needs of the farming community. Prior to the insfrastructural set up of this University, one of the most premier institutes – Bengal Veterinary College, shoulderd the responsibility of imparting education knowledge related to veterinary education for the State. And with the legacy o this century old institute, the new University started functioning around the year 1995. The University is one of the recognized institutes as the UGC act, and is also a member of the AIU.

WBU of Animal & Fishery Sciences has come up with a number of Research programs and planning to establish Regional Research and Extension Centers in various Agro-Ecological Zones of the State. Presently, the University is structured into 3 faculties and one Directorate of Research, Extension and Farms.
